The WinCres Chapter of Trout Unlimited will hold its January meeting on Wednesday, January 23, at Holzinger Lodge. The social hour will begin at 6 p.m., with a program by Ron Benjamin, area fisheries supervisor of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), who will speak about trout stream habitat improvement and stream access. A free meal will be served prior to the program. The public is welcome.

The Minnesota City Community Readers
will meet on Thursday, January 24, at 6:30 p.m. at city hall, 149 Mill Street, Minnesota City. The book being discussed is “The Lighthouse Road” by Peter Geye. All readers are invited whether or not you have read the book. The next book selection is “Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder of a President” by Candace Millard. This book will be discussed at the February meeting.

The Winona League of Women Voters and the Winona County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council will be hosting the annual 2019 elected official outreach event on Saturday, January 26, at 9 a.m. in the Wanek Hall on the second floor of the Winona History Center, 160 Johnson Street. The Winona Area Retired Educators’ Association will hold its first 2019 general meeting on Monday, January 28, at 8:30 a.m. at Perkins in Winona (if schools are closed, meeting is cancelled). River Arts Alliance will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday, January 30, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Wanek Hall in the Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson Street. Social time is from 5:30 to 6; the business meeting is from 6-7 p.m. Learn more about River Arts Alliance, its 2018 accomplishments, 2019 goals, and election of board of director nominees by the members. Cathedral’s Young at Heart will meet on February 7, starting with 12:10 mass followed by a lunch of baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, Waldorf salad, green beans, roll, and cherry pie. Winona Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #191 will meet on Monday, February 11, at the Tea House on Gould Street at 4:45 p.m. for a lasagna meal. The rosary will be at 5:30, and the meeting will begin at 5:45.

Meetings for the Bluff Country chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association are held at the Witoka Tavern at 7:30 on every third Thursday of the month, except June and July. Newcomers are welcome.

The Widowed Persons Social Group has cancelled their dinner meetings indefinitly, but will still be meeting every Tuesday morning for breakfast at 7:30 at Hy-Vee. Coloring for adults is a form of stress relief. It relaxes the brain and helps take your worries away. That is why the Winona Public Library offers Color Me Calm, a group that meets twice a month to color, relax, and socialize.

Color Me Calm meets every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 5-7 p.m. in the library’s Bell Art Room.

Caregiver Support Group for Adults Age 55 and Better This group provides an opportunity to meet with other caregivers to exchange helpful tips, give and receive support, as well as learn about new resources. The Ribbon Warriors cancer support group meets at Callista Court, 1455 West Broadway, every third Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. This is a group of women who celebrate that they have had cancer and are beating it.
