The Gale Star program at Old Main in Galesville will feature Winona’s Magpie Revival on Saturday, February 2, at 7:30 p.m. Magpie Revival is an acoustic string and vocal quartet featuring Kathy Seifert on guitar, Kristin Young on banjo, Sheila Allard playing the Mandolin, and Beth Oness on fiddle. The quartet plays folk, old-time country, rock, and gospel/spiritual tunes. Harmonizing together is what they love to do. According to Seifert, “We collect songs we love from a variety of genres — like magpies collect objects of interest.”
The Old Main Gale Star program seeks to present the finest folk, classical and popular music in the historic, acoustically live auditorium where many artists have performed.
This building first opened its doors in 1862, and all are welcome to come and be a part of its continued use. Complimentary refreshments are served at intermission in the gallery, where you can enjoy a display from the artists Lydia Peterson, ceramics and watercolors, and Daryl B. Anderson, acrylic paintings of birds and wildlife/landscapes.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for college students, and kids in high school and younger are free. Old Main is located at 20869 South College Avenue in Galesville, Wis. To find Old Main, turn south from Ridge Avenue at 12th Street, then right on College Avenue. The stone building is lighted; signs to the historic Gale College campus are posted.
