On Saturday, February 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. there will be a “Kites Over Winona” Kite Fest at Lake Winona near the Lake Park Lodge. The event is in conjunction with the Sky Art exhibit and the Winona Winter Carnival. Kite flyers are invited to participate as well as those who made kites during the workshop at the Winona Arts Center in January. Come see the hand-painted kites from the workshop along with Roberts Aldrich’s large-scale kites and colorful line laundry of fish and cats. The lodge will be open as a warming house.
On Friday evening, February 8, from 6-7 p.m. the public is invited to a kite social in the Winona Arts Center Gallery, where people may see some of Robert Aldrich’s kites on display in the Sky Art exhibit. The kites vary in size from a few inches to 50 feet. Come learn about the various styles of kites and the hobby of kite flying. The exhibit will be on display through February 23.
