Cotter choir students Colin Cada, Siena Kuehn, and Grace Miller were recently accepted into the American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA) of Minnesota ninth and 10th grade state honor choirs.
Colin Cada will sing tenor 1 in the TTBB men’s state honor choir. Siena Kuehn will sing soprano 1 and Grace Miller alto 1 in the SSAA women’s state honor choir.
This year’s state ninth and 10th-grade honor choirs’ guest conductors are Mark Johnson, Minnesota boy’s choir conductor, for the TTBB men’s choir and Erynn Millard, Minnesota State University – Moorhead, for the SSAA women’s choir. Approximately 600 students submitted auditions from schools across Minnesota for 150 available spots in the ACDA ninth and 10th grade honor choirs. Over 60 different Minnesota schools will be represented.
Accepted students will work on their own, and with their respective high school choir directors, to prepare and memorize five songs each for an all-day rehearsal on Thursday, February 14, in Minneapolis, Minn. The day will culminate with a grand finale concert held at the Central Lutheran Church, 333 South 12th Street in downtown Minneapolis at 5:30 p.m.
