Ginny’s Supper Club in Rollingstone was the site for the annual awards banquet for the Winona Clown Club on Saturday, March 30. Clowns present for this event included Birdie, Bloopers, Bubbles, Buffie, Buttons, E*L*M*O, Josie, Jubilee!, Mitzie, Oofty Goofty, Peppermint Polly, Rainbow, Rosie for Now, Scooter, Shadow, Sparkles, Stripes, Timber!!, WIZO, and Vinnie van Goof. There were also 12 guests in attendance for the evening meal.
Vinnie van Goof who was clapped in as an official member of the Winona Clown Club, and rookie awards were given to Bobber, Daubie and WIZO. Oofty Goofty was recognized for “most appearances, ” and Best Props was awarded to Bobber for his fish, and Josie for her ducky.
The Longevity award was earned by Rosie for Now for 20 years of clowning with the club and by Mitzie for her 25 years!
The Rascal Award was given to Timber, and Jubilee! is now listed in the Hall of Fame with the Winona Clown Club.
The club’s next event is on Saturday, April 27, visiting area nursing homes: St. Anne’s, Callista Court, and Sauer Health.
Monthly meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall, 961 West Fifth Street in Winona. The next meeting will be on Thursday, May 2, and anyone is welcome to attend. Business meetings include discussion on past appearances, upcoming events, and needs of club members, such as costume, make-up, and supplies. Members help one another with make-up application and techniques, animal balloon figure creations, juggling, etc. There is no obligation to join when attending a meeting.
