Fischer Family Foundation announces grant to the city of Lewiston Police Department

(4/24/2019)

The Webster and Marcella Fischer Family Foundation has announced a grant to the city of Lewiston Police Department in the amount of $7,600 to assist with the purchase of traffic speed monitoring signs for key areas within the city, particularly near school buildings.

“Assisting with public safety has been important in many of the grants that we have provided to the city of Lewiston,” noted John Fischer, one of Webster and Marcella Fischer’s children. “This certainly fits the mission of the foundation as it is intended to assist with traffic speed control and safety near school buildings. We are pleased to be able to fund projects such as this as we understand that, due to the limited resources of small communities, funding may not otherwise be available.”

The Webster and Marcella Fischer Family Foundation is committed to making grants to qualified nonprofit organizations within the communities and areas surrounding Lewiston, Spring Valley, and Wykoff Minnesota. Since its inception in 2001, the foundation has provided grants totaling more than $750,000 to local nonprofit organizations located in these communities.

Members of the foundation’s advisory committee are Mary Lindell, John Fischer and Kathryn Jones, representing the Fischer family, and Dwayne Ostrem, former president and director of Security State Bank of Lewiston, now Minnwest Bank. The Webster and Marcella Fischer Foundation is affiliated with the Saint Paul and Minnesota foundations, statewide community foundations that work with individuals and organizations to achieve their charitable goals.

Grant applications for funding in June 2019 can be obtained from the Lewiston, Spring Valley or Wykoff office of Minnwest Bank and must be received by the foundation prior to May 31, 2019.
