Celebrate National Poetry Month at the Winona Public Library (WPL) on April 30 with a spoken-word workshop led by Joe Davis, professional artist from Minneapolis, Minn. The teen workshop for youth in grades five through 12 will be at 4:30 p.m., and the adult workshop begins at 6 p.m. A professional performance by Joe Davis will immediately follow at 7. Each session will include poetry-driven conversation, writing prompts to get creative energy flowing, and facilitated feedback from both the instructor and peers on writing and performance aspects. Book Bingo: evening edition
The Winona Public Library will be at Island City Brewing Company for an evening edition of Book Bingo on Wednesday, May 1, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Relax with a beer, play some bingo, and win books!
Learn how to knit with some local knitters on Thursday, May 2, and 9 from 2-3 p.m. in the WPL Bell Art room. This event is free and open to the public. No registration is necessary and supplies will be provided.
The Art of Music, The Music of Art
To celebrate Mid West Music Fest (MWMF), artist Jeff Morgan will exhibit his drawings, paintings, and photographs of local musicians at the WPL throughout the month of May.
Morgan will give a talk on the art in the WPL Bell Art room on Thursday, May 2, at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Book Bingo for Alzheimer’s
Play Book Bingo and support the Alzheimer’s Association on Monday, August 14, at 6 p.m. at the American Legion (302 East Sarnia Street). The WPL will host four to five rounds of different variations of bingo and you could win books!
This special Book Bingo event is free but donations are encouraged. All donations go to the Alzheimer’s Association. Food is available for purchase (cash only).
Book prizes include “Cemetery Road” by Greg Iles, “The Last Romantics” by Tara Conklin, “The American Agent” by Jacqueline Winspear, “The Island of Sea Women” by Lisa See, “Educated” by Tara Westover, and “Becoming” by Michelle Obama. All prizes are currently on the New York Times Best Sellers list.
