The Winona Fiddlers will perform on Sunday, June 2, at 2 p.m., at the Acoustic Café, Winona. Directed by Betsy Neil, The Winona Fiddlers is a group of Winona Area Public Schools orchestra students, who meet once a week throughout the school year to learn new styles and techniques of playing on their violins/fiddles. Their repertoire includes music from Scandinavia, Southern U.S., Jewish, Irish, Scottish, Appalachian Mountains, and French Canada.
The Fiddlers will be joined by some of the past, graduated fiddlers.
There will also be some guest musicians, including Maureen Mullen on guitar; Kristen Young on banjo; and Jud Steinbeck on bodhran, dumbeck, tin whistle, and lap dulcimer. Lori Carlson will join the fiddlers playing a Swedish waltz on her nyckelharpa, an ancient bowed Swedish instrument.
The suggested donation is $5 per person.
