‘Lift Every Voice’ concert is Sunday, November 17

The choir of St. Stanislaus Basilica will come together with the choir and praise team of Wesley United Methodist Church to present the third annual “Lift Every Voice” concert on Sunday, November 17, at 3 p.m. at the Wesley U. M. Church. The concert will also feature the “Unaccompanied Minors,” a young barbershop quartet from Galesville that is growing in popularity and the “Forget Me Notes,” a very special group directed by Norma Duden to provide opportunities for people experiencing dementia to continue singing and expressing their faith. They remind the public that faith still matters as the memory grows dim. The “Unaccompanied Minors” remind the public that if there is to be singing, music needs to be learned at an early age. Other young musicians may appear as well. A free-will offering will be received. Everyone is invited to the reception following the concert.

The “Lift Every Voice” concert is presented as a collaboration between Winona’s Charles Wesley Center for Sacred Music and Arts and The Old Main Historical and Community Arts Center in Galesville to raise revenue for both groups. Funding for the Charles Wesley Center will help use music to bring people together for experiences of God’s Grace and social healing. Funding for Old Main will help support its “Gale Star” student program to provide stipends for students who perform. “Gale Star” at Old Main has awarded $200 for the “Unaccompanied Minors” to attend “Harmony University” at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., in July 2020.
