GRSF storefront window broken Wed. night

The storefront window of the Great River Shakespeare Festival business office on East Third Street was broken in by a bargoer on Wednesday, December 4, at about 1:19 a.m. According to the Winona Police Department report, a suspect fled before an officer was flagged down.

Aaron Young, managing director of Great River Shakespeare Festival, said he was grateful for the timely response from local law enforcement. “Other than the damage to the building, extra utility costs and the extra expenditure of staff time, damages have been minor,” Young said. “We hope that no one was injured in the accident. With heavy shards of glass falling down, the impact could have been disastrous.”

Before the window was broken in, a variety of costumes, including a dark green gown, were arranged in the window in front of a large piece of red cloth that was hanging from the ceiling. A few presents and garland were placed below the costumes. The window being broken in appeared to cause several of the costumes and the red cloth to fall down.
