Munson named FRFF interim director

(7/29/2020)

The Frozen River Film Festival board of directors has named Daniel Munson as interim festival director, to plan and promote the festival’s summer screening series as well as the winter festival.

When former Executive Director Sara Enzenauer announced her departure, the Frozen River Film Festival Board initiated a nationwide search for a new managing director. “We were just days away from what we thought would be a final interview,” said board co-chair Jed Reisetter, “when the State Arts Board announced that they would not be funding any grants for the current granting cycle due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 virus concerns. That [State Arts Board]  grant is our main source of income for a director’s salary, so we put our search on hold.”

“Even with our search on hold, there has been a lot of planning needed for our summer film series and for our February festival — especially with all the unknowns surrounding COVID-19,” said co-chair Jessi Darst.

“We’re fortunate to have someone with Dan’s background and familiarity with the festival on the staff, and that he’s agreed to the extra duties to get us through until we can hire a new director. And we hope to re-open our search soon,” said Reisetter.

Munson has been with the film festival for three years as the assistant festival director, working part-time alongside Enzenauer. He has also had prior experience working in the interim director role, having served as the interim director for the Great River Shakespeare Festival for one season (Munson worked with the Shakespeare Festival for 12 years).
