Local musicians have banded together to perform at Old Main on Friday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m. The lineup includes Kris Risch on guitar; Gregg Hilker on guitar, slide guitar, and mandolin/cigar box guitar; Jamin Barth on guitar; and Brian Beard supporting them all on upright bass. They all sing, too, so there isn’t just one vocalist in particular. When asked about their style of music, Jamin Barth put it this way, “A mix ... some of it will be folk/Americana — some blues, some blues-rock. Kris will probably do one or two of his own that he wrote, which are mostly ballads. We are chameleons ... we do a little bit of whatever sounds good to us.” The concert takes place in the third floor auditorium. Photography will be on display in the multi-purpose room on the second floor: A Tour of Europe by Jim and Martha Riley. Complimentary treats and beverages are served at intermission.
This isn’t the first time a group of musicians have come together specifically for a performance at Old Main. The audience will be apart of this very special premier. People are discovering Old Main to be a venue that features some of the finest talent in the region in a setting that is acoustically live and that invites a warm relationship with the audience and entertainers.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for college students. Performances are free to people in high school and younger.
Old Main is located at 20869 College Avenue in Galesville. Turn into Galesville at the stoplight; from the Galesville square take West Gale or West Ridge Avenue to County Road T; from T turn south at 12th Street and turn right on College Avenue. Signs will be posted.
