The Cotter High School choirs will present their annual Christmas concert on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. in the beautiful Chapel of St. Mary of the Angels on the Cotter campus, on the corner of Vila and Wabasha (Seventh) streets.
Each choir, the Cotter Concert Choir and Show Choir, will present a variety of selections. Among the Concert Choir selections are “Gaudate,” a Renaissance piece; and “African Celebration,” a medley including “Betelehemu,” “African Noel,” and “Siyahamba.” The Concert Choir will also sing other holiday selections and traditional Christmas carols.
The Show Choir selections are more popular and contemporary. The Cotter Show Choir will perform upbeat selections such as “I’m a Believer,” and a medley of ‘70s tunes entitled “Disco Survives.”
The last portion of the concert is dedicated to those who enjoy the more traditional Christmas carols such as “The First Noel,” “Joy to the World,” and others. All Cotter Choir alumni are invited to join the Concert Choir in the traditional singing of “Peace, Peace” as the closing selection. The Cotter choirs are under the direction of Cathy Snyder, with Mark Roeckers accompanying on piano. The Show Choir choreographer is Madeline Beuning.
Everyone is welcome and there is no admission fee.
