First confirmed date: February 14 acoustic performance by Martin Zellar

Hurry Back Productions has announced the first in a series of events planned for 2018.

On February 14, area music fans will have the rare opportunity to experience a solo acoustic performance by Martin Zellar. The event will be held in the newly-renovated St. Cecelia Theater on the Cotter High School campus.

A native of Austin, Minn., Zellar has enjoyed success as the front man for the Gear Daddies, Martin Zellar and the Hardways, and as a solo performer. The combination of his addictive melodies and powerful lyrics demand attention in this intimate, acoustic setting.

Vickie Gilmer, a music industry expert, writes, “Zellar’s signature raspy vocals carry his heartfelt, self-conscious treatises on small towns and big cities, loneliness and love, and life’s peaks and valleys that burrow into your consciousness.”

Mike Slaggie, founder of Hurry Back Productions, commented, “I’ve heard Martin Zellar perform everywhere, from small theaters to jam-packed parking lots to overflowing amphitheaters. Listening to him in a small theater was by far the most memorable and satisfying experience.”

The historic 412-seat theater has excellent acoustics and sight-lines. The recent renovation included replacing the tile floor in the balcony, refinishing the wood floor on the main level, as well as replacing all of the seating on both levels of the theater. The newly painted theater walls bring out the historic beauty of the theater’s architectural design and stained-glass windows.

Tickets will be available through eventbrite.com. Some tickets will include an opportunity for a pre-show photo and meeting with Martin Zellar.
