Saint Anne partners with REACH for immersion

Saint Anne of Winona will host the first REACH student immersion experience for the health and human services (HHS) cohort on January 23. The immersion is designed to provide students interested in health and human services training and experience that go beyond academics.

“We are very excited to host the first HHS Reach immersion. This will give the students an opportunity to work directly with our residents and health care staff,” said Jeff Rogness, human resource director at Saint Anne of Winona and chair of the REACH Health and Human Services Committee.

“We are already focusing on work-ready soft skills, life skills, and personal character. The immersion program needs the health care industry to round out the workplace experience. REACH students need to learn and experience first-hand the necessary workplace skills they will need in a health care and human services setting,” Della Schmidt, president of the Winona Area Chamber of Commerce, explained.

REACH immersion program objectives

• Give students first-hand experience of the work environment.

• Provide an opportunity for students to apply knowledge, skill sets, and techniques gained from the classroom in real-life situations.

• Facilitate students to gain work experience in the field of health care and human services

• Allow students to adapt effectively to future employment opportunities.

• Develop students’ good work ethics.

• Expand students’ network of contacts.

• Practice business etiquette.

REACH is a program of the Winona Area Chamber of Commerce Business Education Network, in collaboration with Winona Senior High School, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, Winona State University College of Business, Saint Mary’s University, and Minnesota State College Southeast.
