This year would have marked the 75th crowning of Miss Winona, but like many other milestone events because of COVID-19 it was cancelled. The Miss Winona Program has decided to make this extra year one of celebration!
The celebration begins with “The Former Corner.” Thanks to the Winona Post organizers will be sharing fun facts, photos and some of the history of the Miss Winona Scholarship Program.
Each month current Miss Winona Kayla Boettcher will interview former Miss Winonas beginning with Miss Winona 1947 June Ruehmann and Miss Winona 1948 Rosalie Chritchfield.
The Miss Winona program has a rich history and in the past has been a part of the celebrations of both the Winter Carnival and Steamboat Days and is part of the very fabric of Winona. Miss Winona has volunteered literally hundreds of hours in the community over the past 75 years. The Miss Winona program has also given many thousands of dollars in educational scholarships to women in the community.
These are difficult times and Miss Winona Scholarship Program organizers are making an effort to keep this 75-year tradition as a vital part of the Winona community history. They sincerely hope you enjoy reading the comments and stories these women will share over the next year.
In June 2021 they will crown the 75th Miss Winona with a gala and a very special guest ... Miss America!
The Miss America program is the largest scholarship program for women in the world today. The organization has provided thousands of hours and dollars to local and national charities. The Miss Winona Scholarship Program is proud of its affiliation with Miss America and organizers hope to continue this tradition for the city of Winona.
