Eileen L. Strang, age 94, died Saturday, December 29, 2007, at St. Michael Lutheran Home in Fountain City, WI. She was born April 11, 1913, in Fountain City, WI, the daughter of John Leland Bond and Lydia Anna Joos Bond. She married Meredith H. "Mardy" Strang on August 30, 1941.
Eileen was a graduate of Winona Business College and worked for eight years for Cities Service Oil Co. in St. Paul, MN, as an executive secretary to the company president. At Cities Service she met her future husband and, following their marriage they moved to Fairfax, IA, where they farmed for 36 years, retiring in 1977.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Tom) Doran and Jeanne' (Thomas) Carman of Madison, WI. Five grandchildren, Jon (Jackie) Strang, Des Moines, IA, Michelle (Jeff) Strang Moore of Overland Park, KS, Caitlin (Peter) Doran Doksus, Rebecca Doran and Lucas Doran, all of Madison, WI, and four great-grandchildren. A sister, Ruby Bond Klein, Cochrane, WI, and two daughters-in-law, Joann Strang, Fairfax, IA and Janice Strang, Omaha, NE.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Mardy in 2000, two sons, Terry and Dennis, two brothers, Lloyd and Stanley Bond and two sisters, Evelyn Bond Carlson and Gladys Bond.
She was a member and acted as treasurer for over 35 years of the Fairfax United Methodist Church, which closed and became a part of Clover Ridge United Methodist Church in Walford, IA. In retirement Eileen loved to restore furniture, read, listen to music and travel.
Private family graveside services will be held in Fairfax, Iowa, at a later date. Services entrusted to Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Fountain City, WI.
