Eugene R. "Gene" Maroushek, 73, of 150 Pleasant Hill Drive, Winona, died Saturday, December 23, 2006, at his home. Gene was born in Winona on August 13, 1933, the son of Benjamin M. and Palma (Viken) Maroushek.
Gene is a lifelong Winona area resident who worked as a general contractor in this area for over 40 years. He is a member of the Elks Lodge #327 of Winona.
He is survived by his mother, Palma of Winona; four sons, Richard of Cottage Grove, MN; Daniel (Connie) of Woodbury, MN; John (Monica) of Trempealeau, WI, and Thomas (Jody) of Winona; two daughters, Peggy (Dave) Schafer of White Bear Lake, MN and Teri (John) Severson of Crosby, MN. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Benjamin (Janice) Maroushek Jr., Apple Valley, MN and Roger (Sharon) Maroushek of Henderson, NV, one sister, Shirley (Ted) Gierok, Winona; and a special friend, Winifred Brandes of Winona.
Gene was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Sr. and a sister, Mary Lou Haedtke.
Funeral services to celebrate Gene's life will be on Thursday, December 28, 2006, at 6:00P.M. at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home with funeral celebrant Ann Junker officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona, MN.
