Payton, Lois Aileen
Lois Aileen Payton, 48, of Winona, and formerly of Gilmanton and Mondovi, Wis., died Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Lake Winona Manor, surrounded by loving family.
Lois was born in Waukegan, Ill., on November 12, 1963, to James and Naomi (Ellenberger) Winn. In 1972, her family relocated to Gilmanton, Wis. She attended school in Mondovi and earned her GED. In 1986, Lois was united in marriage to Marvin Hall in Chicago, Ill. In 1994, she married Dwayne Payton in Las Vegas.
She was kind-hearted, unselfish, and always the life of the party. She enjoyed Twizzlers licorice, lion memorabilia, the Chicago Bears, and traveling throughout the United States.
Lois is survived by her mother, Naomi Gonty of Winona and formerly Eleva, Wis., sisters, Ruth (Richard, Sr.) Kraus of Mondovi and Mary (John) Neis of Winona; six nieces, Rachael (Scott) Wulff, Rebecca (David) Buller, Robin Kraus, Rosemary Kraus, Tosha (Henry) Klopp, and Tonia Khollman; three nephews, Richard (Kristi) Kraus, Jr., Jeremy Klopp, and Stephen Klopp; special friend, Don Huck. She is preceded in death by her father, James Winn; maternal and paternal grandparents; brother, Duane Winn; and niece, Jennifer Kraus.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Friendship Church in Mondovi, Wis. Pastor Scott Konitzer will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date.
Lois will be sadly missed by her friends and family.
