Alma M. Putz, 93, of Fountain City, Wis., died peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, March 17, 2014, at Lake Winona Manor. She was born on February 26, 1921 to Frederick and Emma (Schaffner) Mueller in Buffalo County, Wis.
She married Herman R. Putz on September 18, 1940, in Fountain City at St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She and Herman farmed many years on Canada Ridge while raising their six children. Alma was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, canning, and gardening. Her flowers were her pride and joy. She loved making crafts and giving them as gifts to her family. In her later years, Alma enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and word searches. She was an active member of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliary, and the Lutheran Women’s Mission Society.
Alma was predeceased by her parents; husband, Herman (1993); three brothers; four sisters; daughter-in-law, Judith Putz; and son-in-law, Odell Asleson. She will be greatly missed by her children, Joanne, of St. Paul, Minn., Virginia Asleson, of Holmen, Wis., David, of Fountain City, Wis., Allen (Rita), of Austin, Minn., Sharon (Chester) Pozanc, of Winona, Minn., and Diane (James) Baures, of Buffalo City, Wis.; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many more relatives and friends.
A service of remembrance will be held Friday, March 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fountain City, with visitation one hour prior. The Reverend Elroy Conradt will officiate. Alma’s grandsons will be the casket bearers. A spring interment will be held in the Fountain City Public Cemetery.
