Nagle, Mabel D.
July 24, 1921 - February 15, 2014
Mabel D. Nagle, age 92, of Winona, passed away on March 15, 2014, in Winona, Minnesota. She was born at home in Stockton Valley, Minn., to Alfred and Frieda (Reps) Spaag on July 24, 1921. She attended Stockton Valley School.
On October 27, 1945, she married James P. Nagle at the Minnesota City First Baptist Church. They spent their lives together farming in Stockton Valley, Minn. When James and Mabel retired from farming they moved to Goodview where Mabel lived until she moved to Sterling House in Winona. Although she had no children of her own, Mabel was a wonderful aunt and motherly figure to her many nieces and nephews. She was an amazing baker and her desserts were enjoyed by all her family, and her potato dumplings will be sorely missed.
Mabel was attentive to details all of her life and strived for perfection. Her quilts, crochet, and sewing were done right or done over. Jim and Mabel’s home, flower beds, lawn and garden were immaculate. They were a hard working couple that made you feel loved when you were with them.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, sister Ruth and brother Clarence Spaag, brother-in-law Earl Casper and sisters-in-law Carol Spaag and Alice Spaag. Mabel is survived by brothers Lester and Leonard Spaag, sister-in-law Maxine, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Following Mabel’s wishes, a graveside service will be held on Monday, March 17, at 4 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery. Words of sympathy or remembrance may be left at www.fawcett-junkerfuneralhome.com. Services entrusted to Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Winona, Minn. and Fountain City, Wis.
