Vera Ann Strain, 77, of Rochester, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017, in Winona, at Winona Health, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.
Vera was born on October 8, 1939, in bluff Siding, Wis. She was the eldest daughter of Casimer and Dorothy (Patzner) Neumann.
Services were held in Rochester on April 21.
She married Burdene Strain of Rochester, Minn., and they recently celebrated 57 years together. Vera was an avid bird watcher. Her favorite was the red cardinal. She loved children and had home daycare for many years. She drove “The Pumpkin Bus” for handicapped children. She also had an excellent garden and loved red roses. She loved her dogs and enjoyed playing with her grandchildren until she couldn’t remember them anymore, but still was very happy when she could hold a baby or watch children play.
Vera is survived by her husband, Burdene; son, Daniel (Heidi) Strain; and daughter, Kari Strain; and five grandchildren, William, Wes, Jaiden, Ellis and Ean; her siblings, Nancy Neumann, Mary Jo Neumann, Jeannie (Tom) Langreck, Casimer Neumann, John (Shirley) Neumann, Paul Neumann, and Joe Neumann; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Marvin, Kenny, Peter and Bob.
