Raising Chickens In Your Backyard: What Do You Call A Person Who Raises Chickens? A Chicken Tender

This event will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Winona County History Center. Jerry Redman and his family now are Coulee Region chicken farmers. Chickens not only make great, fun-loving pets, but can also contribute to the sustainable lifestyle. From a chicken operation that started out in the family kitchen to an egg-supplying business for his WSU colleagues, raising backyard chickens has been a wonderful experience. Please join Jerry and his twins, Kelsey and Kaleb, as they share their adventure and tell their story in an informal, interactive, and comic presentation.

Inmate Counseling Program

This event will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Winona County History Center. Winona County Attorney Karin Sonneman will present information on a new inmate counseling task force that is being implemented for Winona County. This task force will provide much needed counseling services for jail inmates. Most of those incarcerated in Winona County have many problems including addiction to drugs and alcohol. The new task force is being designed to provide more services during incarceration to help inmates get back on track once they are released.
