Winona Health launches healthy weight-loss program

(8/28/2017)

Many people know what to do to lose weight, but have a hard time doing it. That’s because losing weight and keeping it off involves more than eating your veggies and ditching the sweets. It’s not just changing what you do, but ultimately changing how you think about living a healthier life.

Winona Health’s HealthyFit: Living Your Best Life is a new six-week program to help people lose weight and keep it off. The first HealthyFit: Living Your Best Life session begins on Wednesday, September 13.

Participants will

• Define what it means to live their best life.
• Establish goals to attain their best life.
• Develop a personal wellness plan to include proper nutrition, movement, relaxation and sleep.
• Create strategies to get around road-blocks and set-backs.
• Develop a strong mind-set supportive of lasting health behaviors.

Occasional assignments require time to complete independently. For best results, participants should allow 30 to 60 minutes per week outside class time.

Please note that basic nutrition and exercise principles will not be taught in this program. This program is appropriate for those who have a lot of knowledge about how to properly lose weight, but are having a difficult time doing it. It is perfect for graduates of Winona Health’s HealthyFit: Adult Weight Management program who want additional support while continuing to lose weight. Those interested in basic nutrition and exercise principles should ask about the HealthyFit: Adult Weight Management program.

The first HealthyFit: Living Your Best Life program begins on Wednesday, September 13, from 9 to 10 a.m. The cost for the six-week program is $90. The next HealthyFit: Adult Weight Management program, which focuses on weight loss education, begins on Wednesday, September 13, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The cost for the 12-week program is $175.

Both programs meet in the Wellness Conference Room on the second floor of the Parkview Office Building at Winona Health, 825 Mankato Avenue. Class sizes are limited and advanced registration is required by Wednesday, September 6. To sign up for either program, call 507-457-4329.
