Friday, December 29


• At 2:14 a.m. police were dispatched to the 100 block of East Third Street and when officers arrived, a man fled on foot. Mark Anthony Heath, 44, of Winona, was cited with fleeing police on foot.
• At 9:57 p.m. police received a report of a hit-and-run collision on the 1600 block of West Fifth Street. A white truck reportedly backed up and struck another vehicle before leaving the scene.
• At 3:50 p.m. police received a report that a package valued at $36 was taken from a porch on the 300 block of East Fifth Street.
• At 4:06 p.m. police received a call from a restaurant employee at 1415 West Service Drive who reported that three people had dined there and then left without paying for their meal.

Saturday, December 30

• At 1:53 a.m. police stopped a vehicle at Highway 14 and Pumpkin Road after the driver reportedly had just come from a known drug house. Amanda Erin Bray, 35, was arrested and referred to the county attorney for potential charges of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine.
• At 2:57 p.m. police mailed Shawn Michael Fort, 26, of Winona, a citation for trespassing at Wal-Mart.
• At 4:59 p.m. police cited Travis Lyn Depestel, 45, of Lewiston, with trespassing at Wal-Mart.
• At 8:03 p.m. police stopped a vehicle at Broadway and Ewing Street after an officer reportedly recognized the driver as having a revoked driver’s license. Kyle Jay Nelton, 27, of Winona, was arrested and referred to the county attorney for potential charges of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance — mushrooms, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police reportedly discovered two bags containing psychedelic mushrooms — .95 grams in one bag and .45 grams in another — as well as a glass pipe.

Sunday, December 31

• At 9:18 a.m. police received a report of a bicycle stolen from a porch on the 1400 block of West Fifth Street.
• At 10:48 a.m. police received a report of a burglary at a residence on the 200 block of Harvester Avenue. An adult female told police someone broke into the home and stole three TVs and a computer.
• At 11:04 a.m. police received a report of a hit-and-run collision with a parked car on the 700 block of West Fifth Street.
• At 1:11 p.m. police received a report of a hit-and-run collision on the 600 block of East 10th Street. A juvenile male from Winona was cited with a permit violation and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
• At 7:17 p.m. police received a report of a burglary at a residence on the 600 block of West Fourth Street. An adult male told police a TV, Macbook, and sound bar were taken from the unlocked residence.
• At 7:55 p.m. police received a report of an intoxicated person walking at Second Street and Mankato Avenue. Mitchell Lee Puterbaugh, 20, of Winona, was cited with underage consumption of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content measured at .17 percent.
• At 11:55 p.m. police received a report that a vehicle had struck a fire hydrant and driven off at Fifth and Chestnut streets.

Monday, January 1

• At 12:26 a.m. police stopped a vehicle at Broadway and Sioux Street for a reported headlight violation. An underaged male driver from Canton, Minn., was cited with minor consumption of alcohol, underaged drinking and driving, and having an expired driver’s license. A juvenile female from Fountain City was cited with minor consumption of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content measured at .03 percent. Xzaviar Aune, 20, of Winona, was cited with underaged consumption of alcohol; a juvenile female from Rushford was cited with minor consumption of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content measured at .05 percent; a juvenile male from Preston, Minn., was cited with minor consumption of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content measured at .06 percent; a juvenile female from Preston, Minn., was cited with minor consumption of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content measured at .10 percent; and a juvenile female from Winona was cited with minor consumption of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content measured at .05 percent.
• At 3:25 a.m. police received a report of a two-vehicle crash on private property on the 1000 block of West Broadway. Aaron Richard Place, 29, of Spring Valley, Minn., reportedly showed signs of intoxication and was cited with fourth-degree driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content measured at .11 percent.
• At 12:22 p.m. police received a report of a hit-and-run crash in the parking lot at Wal-Mart.

Friday, December 29


• At 12:41 p.m. deputies were called to rural Rollingstone on a report of a theft. Power tools valued at over $2,000 were reported missing.
• At 8:18 p.m. deputies were called to County Road 12 near Gopher Road to assist a woman after she reportedly locked her keys in her vehicle with a three-year-old child inside.

Saturday, December 30

• At 12:45 a.m. deputies stopped a vehicle at 12th and Huff streets for having a suspended object hanging from the rear-view mirror. Kyra Hayson, 21, of Albert Lea, was cited with having a small amount of marijuana in a motor vehicle.
• At 2:08 a.m. deputies reportedly observed a vehicle without headlights at Seventh and Winona streets. Nikos Pritchett, 29, of Winona, was cited with fourth-degree driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content measured at .08 percent.

Sunday, December 31


• At 2:34 a.m. deputies reportedly observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway at Broadway and South Baker Street. Teairra Craig, 27, of Winona, was referred to the county attorney’s office for potential charges of gross misdemeanor test refusal and gross misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.
• At 9:33 a.m. deputies received a report from a person in Idaho who said they were being harassed by a Winona County resident via Facebook.
• At 7:02 p.m. deputies were called to Pooter’s Bar in Altura on a report of a hit-and-run collision. A black pickup truck reportedly struck a vehicle and then drove away.

Monday, January 1

• At 2:22 a.m. deputies stopped a vehicle at Main Street and Wacholz Drive in Stockton for having a headlight out. The driver, Michael Maurice Adams Jr., 31, of Winona, was cited with fourth-degree driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content measured at .17 percent. He was also cited with driving after suspension.
• At 11:28 p.m. deputies were called to a residence on South Main Street in Elba on a report of a dog without adequate shelter. The dog, which was housed in a box-style dog house with some hay and a blanket covering the entrance, was brought to St. Charles. The deputy plans to issue citations for mistreatment of an animal and violation of dog house specifications to the owner.

Sunday, December 31


• At 1:36 p.m. emergency crews were called to a fire at a barn and Loomis Trailer Sales on Highway 10 in Mondovi. The Mondovi Fire Department was assisted by several surrounding departments. The barn was a total loss and it is unknown how many livestock were lost.
