A Matter of Faith: Jesus is coming

From: Mary Zimmerman

Yes, sooner or later Jesus is coming. That doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the world but it can mean the end of our world, are you ready? Am I ready? I hope I am helping some of you prepare. Yesterday at Taco John’s a nice lady encouraged me to keep writing and today after Mass at St. Mary’s another lady did the same. Sometimes I forget to remind people that I am just a pencil in God’s hand, I’m not walking around with a halo or flying around with wings; I know I need to give God the credit or he may take this talent away from me. I am nothing and God is everything to me, my family as well, but then again I know God doesn’t make nobodies (a person of no influence or importance). Every human is made in His image and the likeness of God and He loves us all. I’m also thinking about the commandment “love your neighbor as yourself,” so despite our sins and faults, Jesus forgives us for the asking and expects us to do the same, forgive ourselves and others. We have to remember to first remove the plank in our own eye so we can see the speck in others. In other words, don’t look for faults or sin in others since we all have them as well.

Today’s world doesn’t have much to offer anymore. I guess it never really did at least in comparison to what God has to offer us now (His grace and blessing). And for all eternity, dear friends, don’t feel as though you have to get the most possible joy from this world because you have lost all hope for an eternity in heaven with God, the angels and our loved ones. My dear friends I want more than anything to know my humble writing has helped to turn you away from the false happiness and hopes of the world and find true happiness in helping others along the road of life. If they have fallen into serious sin, help them to know there is a merciful God waiting to say “your sins are forgiven. Go in peace and sin no more.”

There is so much noise in today’s world, people can hardly think straight. Perhaps it would help not to have radios, TVs or smart phones in bedrooms, they can come between us and God, leaving us little time for prayer, spiritual reading, etc. I thank God for making me well again, I thank my family for all their care, wishes and prayers, my dear readers as well, and I thank Sarah Squires for her concern and for this section in the Post “A Matter of Faith.” It’s an alternative for me instead of writing more books.

I’m grateful as well to be able to help take care of my husband Jim and I guess you never fully recover from a major stroke.

Again, Jesus is coming, we know not the day or the hour. Are you ready?
