Thomas H. Flynn Jr., age 87, of Winona, died on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Gundersen Health Systems, La Crosse, Wis.
Thomas Herbert was born on July 10, 1930, in Brookston, Minn., to Thomas Sr. and Margaret (Ettsen) Flynn. He served in the military from 1948-1949. He was formerly employed for 15 years at D.M.I.R. Railroad and Great Northern Rail Road as a mechanic and welder, and he retired in 1992 after 34 years as a sales representative with Gerber Baby Foods. In 1991, Tom married Diane M. Stenzel at Faith Lutheran Church, Winona.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, B.P.O.E. #327 Winona, and served as exalted ruler in 1985-86; a past district deputy in 1991-92 and was Minnesota Elk of the year in 2000. He also served on the Minnesota Elks Youth Camp Board of Directors for eight years.
Tom is survived by his wife, Diane, Winona; his five children, Dennis (Deb) Flynn, Hermantown, Minn., Deborah Flynn, Bloomington, Minn., Deanna Priola, Duluth, Minn., Robin Thelen, Stockton, Minn., and Toni (Daniel) Fredrickson, Farmington, Minn.; five step-children, James (Karen) Evans, Wells, Minn., Jeff (Joy) Evans, Palmer, Ak., John (Kelly) Evans, Anoka, Minn., Julie Halverson, Frost, Minn., and Jeanette VanGerpen, Rake, Iowa; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two brothers, James (Verna) Flynn, Cloquet, Minn., and Russell Flynn, Twig, Minn.; and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, two sisters.
The visitation will be on Thursday, March 15, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. with Elks service at 6:30 p.m. at Fawcett Junker Funeral Home, Winona.
Memorial services for Tom will be on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 10 a.m. with visitation starting at 9 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Winona, with Rev. Mark Dumke officiating.
