Over 130 Farm Bureau members from Minnesota met with state legislators at the state Capitol in St. Paul on March 22 during one of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Days on the Hill. Farm Bureau members’ message to legislators focused on legislative options to ensure that farmers and rural Minnesotans have access to mental health and emotional well-being care; focused on support for the state of Minnesota tax code conforming to federal depreciation rules, including section 179 of the federal tax code; asked that the comment period for the groundwater protection proposal be extended; and sought farmer-friendly and realistic solutions to ditch mowing and haying along state highways.
