Calling all MN entrepreneurs

(4/25/2018)

Calling all Minnesota entrepreneurs, inventors, researchers, and small business owners interested in competing for $475,000 in seed money: There is an incredible opportunity for Minnesotans working on the next breakthrough business venture — Minnesota Cup.

The Minnesota Cup is an annual new venture competition for Minnesota entrepreneurs, researchers and inventors. Since its inception, the Minnesota Cup has awarded more than $2.4 million in seed money to Minnesota startups. Organized by the University of Minnesota, Minnesota Cup is a startup competition and hub to connect Minnesota’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Participants in the 2018 Minnesota Cup will be competing for more than $475,000 in available seed money. Whether you are at the point of inception or already have created a company and are pursuing your breakthrough idea, this program is intended to provide support for you as an entrepreneur.

Last year’s grand prize winner was MicroOptx, Inc., a medical device company that makes implants for halting the progression of glaucoma. But prize money and mentorship also went to many other companies, including Autonomous Tractor Corporation, which retrofits farm equipment for automation and electric power; the woman-led Z Flow Pro, the air-curtain face shield; the fantasy soccer app, Starting 11; and 16 other companies — check out the full list at https://carlsonschool.umn.edu/faculty-research/blog/entrepreneurship/mn-cup-names-stemonix-best-business-idea-2016.
