Again, I think my title is a little odd, but God never lets me down so I’m trusting this article will be worth the reading, and above all help you to plan a future with God for all eternity. How do we go about such a venture? If we are talking about planning our future in the world, we save and invest money, we plan vacations, we plan our education according to our preferred vocation … sometimes all this planning goes for 100 years, but eventually the time we have on Earth ends for all of us.
Once we are conceived, our future leads on into eternity. Have you planned for the life that will last forever? That’s where parents come in. We need to help our children focus their lives Heavenward, which Mr. Webster describes to be a place or condition of supreme happiness. We as parents want that for our children, don’t we? So how do we arrive there?
God founded His church over 2,000 years ago to help us to learn, grow, and manifest our knowledge to a world that is spiritually dying. No, the ten commandments God gave Moses aren’t outdated; they just haven’t changed to match the unfortunate ways of the world.
So many seem to think that going to church is no longer a big deal, but it is. I assure you, when you die you won’t want God to say, “I don’t know you, depart from me.
During Lent, we are always reminded to pray, do penance, and give to the poor. That should really be our motto all year long as the poor are with us always. Some of us don’t realize or appreciate all that we have in this country. Freedom of religion is number one. In some places, people are being killed for their faith; however, it is shocking how many people are hungry and homeless in our country, even in our city of Winona .
There are many ways we can help donate food to those in need, and God will bless you for your generous heart. This is one of the ways we plan for our heavenly future (deeds of mercy). Remember what God says: Faith without works is dead. God says to store up your treasure in Heaven, and not give in to the materialism of this world. We need to ask ourselves, do I have a rich prayer life? This is of the utmost importance, to have a relationship with God here will assure we are planning our future in a heavenly manner; it comforts God to know our love for Him, as we anticipate an eternity enjoying all God has prepared for those who plan a future with Him.
Now, let’s join together as Catholics with our dear Protestant friends in praying the Our Father — The Lord’s Prayer.
“We must pray, not only with our lips, but also with our heart. Prayer is the key to God’s heart.”
Our Father, Who art is Heaven,
Hallowed by thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on Earth
as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil. Amen
“Through prayer you come closer to God’s love and peace of heart. Prayer is the key to God’s heart.”
