Wednesday, June 27


• At 10:18 p.m. police received a report from an adult female who said the window of her residence on the 50 block of West Fourth Street was broken.

• At 3:21 p.m. police received a report from an adult female who reported a sexual assault had occurred 11 years earlier. The incident is under investigation.

• At 5:36 p.m. police received a report from an adult female who said someone climbed onto her grill, damaging it, in an apparent attempt to gain entry into her apartment on the 1700 block fo Kraemer Drive. Nothing was missing.

• At 6:23 p.m. police received a report from an adult female that a gold Schwinn bicycle was stolen from the 350 block of West Fourth Street.

• At 6:35 p.m. a 14-year-old Winona boy reported being punched by an unknown male on the 1250 block of West Third Street.

• At 6:48 p.m. police received a report of a moped possibly stolen from the 500 block of Maceman Street. A resident there observed a man run up to the moped, kneel down and start it, then take off. The moped was later recovered and officers reviewed video of the reported theft. Christopher Paul Sullivan, 24, of Winona, was referred to the county attorney for a potential charge of theft of a motor vehicle.

• At 8:34 p.m. an adult female reported her wallet was lost or stolen from the 150 block of Huff Street.

• At 11:39 p.m. police cited Chase Corey Gensmer, 25, of Minnesota City, for speeding and failing to stop at a stop light after he allegedly drove 66 mph in a 30-mph zone and ran a red light at Highway 61 and Huff Street on a Yamaha motorcycle.

Thursday, June 28

• The Winona County Attorney’s Office charged Blake Jeffery Lara-McGrew, 28, of Winona, with second-degree burglary and receiving stolen property. According to the complaint, Lara-McGrew possessed and pawned items including TVs and movies that were stolen from a residence in Winona on September 15, 2015.

• At 11:45 p.m. police received a report of a naked man on the 50 block of East Front Street. Police made contact with a man there who said he had been skinny dipping.

Friday, June 29


• At 1:30 a.m. police received a report of theft from an adult male who said he was attacked by an African-American man on the 50 block of East Third Street. The man reported that he had left a downtown bar and was walking home when he was pinned against a wall and $20 was taken. The attacker was described as 6’1” tall, muscular, wearing a gray shirt and dark pants, and between the ages of 18 and 23.

Wednesday, June 27


• At 8:40 p.m. deputies assisted the Houston County Sheriff’s Department and the La Crescent Police Department with the use of the Winona County Sheriff’s Department’s drone to evaluate a potentially suspicious backpack found laying next to the train tracks in La Crescent. Through the use of the drone and a thermal imaging camera, officers determined the backpack did not contain dangerous items. Inside were a cellphone and charger.

Thursday, June 28

• At 4:59 p.m. deputies received a report from an adult female who said the screen on her residence on First Street in Altura had been cut, but no entry was gained.
