It’s with sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Ann Clay, Winona, on July 7, 2018. Linda was born on February 11, 1944, in Red Lake Falls, Minn., to Norman and Ruby Peterson. She married Robert Clay on May 28, 1966, and had two children, Christy and Nathan, in 1972 and 1974, respectively. Linda was an elementary school teacher for 21 years, earner a Master’s degree in education, and ended her teaching career at Winona State University as a supervisor of student teachers. She was an avid reader, traveler, and loved spending time with family and friends. Linda will be missed by many and will be remembered for her grace, dignity, and kindness.
Following a car accident in 1997, Linda continued to pursue traveling with her husband, Bob, making annual trips between Avinger, Texas, and Winona, making many friends along the way. We will be forever grateful to the women who worked as caretakers and became close friends with Linda throughout the years, both in Texas and Minnesota.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Ruby Peterson; and niece, Shelli Clay. She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Christy (Matt) Goldberg; son, Nathan (Olivia) Clay; four grandchildren, Collin, Megan, Wyatt, and Sheldon; siblings, David (Becky) Peterson, Nancy (Lucio) Flores, and Susan (Don) Wilhelm; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Sheldon (Carol) Clay, Michael (Hannelore) Clay, Penny (Dave) Dauster, and Andy (Katherine) Clay; and 10 nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
