Friday, August 3


· At 2:39 p.m. police arrested Jonathan Joe Light, 32, of Winona for allegedly violating an order for protection.

Saturday, August 4


· At 1 p.m. police cited Dylan Michael Heller, 26, of Winona, with theft by shoplifting from Wal-Mart.

· At 5:30 p.m. a vehicle was reportedly vandalized overnight on the 1500 block of east Fourth Street.

· At 7:47 p.m. police stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Seventh and Washington streets for having a loud muffler. The driver, Blaine Michael Loather, 20, of Winona, was cited with fourth-degree driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content measured at .11 percent.

Sunday, August 5

· At 2:19 a.m. police stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 61 and Huff Street for stopping in a merge lane. The driver, Francisco Joan Hernandez, 20, of Arcadia, was cited with fourth-degree driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content measured at .13 percent.

· At 10:20 a.m. a timber rattlesnake was reportedly spotted on the 1350 block of Skyline Drive. A snake handler was called in to remove the animal.

Monday, August 6


· At 3:13 p.m. a man reported that the windows of a warehouse building on the 400 block of West Third Street had been broken out, apparently by someone throwing rocks.

· At 11:45 p.m. officers ticketed Abigail Rose Martinson, 22, of Rochester, for failure to yield after she was involved in a car collision at Fourth and Market streets. There were no injuries.

Tuesday, August 7


· At 2:08 a.m. officers arrested Christopher Paul Sullivan, 24, of Winona, on a warrant for theft of a motor vehicle and for several new alleged offenses following a traffic stop. A Winona County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a vehicle at Louisa Street and Frontenac Drive in Winona because it had a broken taillight. One of the passengers was identified as Sullivan, who was wanted for allegedly stealing a moped in late June. Winona Police officers reported that Sullivan had two driver’s licenses that did not belong to him, that one of the driver’s licenses had been reported as stolen, and that Sullivan gave them a false name. Officers referred him for new charges of possessing another person’s identification, giving false information to police, and possession of stolen property.

· At 3:25 a.m. a woman reported that a man broke down the door of her residence on the 1750 block of West Seventh Street. According to the report, the woman had applied for an order for protection against the man, but it was not yet in effect. The woman told police the man pounded on her door until he knocked it off the hinges, then fled. Officers were unable to locate him.

Friday, August 3

· At 8:31 p.m. deputies cited Eric Anthony Tuffs, 21, of Monticello, Minn., with possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop near Highway 61 and Maur-L Drive. His passenger, Dana Dianne Ascher, 24, of Monticello, Minn., was also cited for having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

Saturday, August 4

· At 12:13 a.m. deputies cited Dusty Kaleb Henshaw, 18, of Red Wing, Minn., for failing to stop at a stop sign near the intersection of Fifth and Harriet streets. His passengers, Courtney River Korder 19, of Red Wing, Minn., and a 17-year-old girl from Winona were cited with underage consumption of alcohol.

· At 1:53 a.m. deputies stopped a vehicle on Sarnia and Hamilton streets for allegedly speeding. The driver, Michael Baxter Lundeen, 23, of Cherry Valley, Ill., reportedly showed signs of intoxication and was arrested for third-degree driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content measured at .16 percent. He reportedly told deputies he was taking a friend, who had suffered a head laceration, to the hospital. The injured man was transported to Winona Health.

Sunday, August 5


· Jakittia Lakeisha Shanise Covington, 21, of Winona, was arrested and cited with obstructing justice with force during a traffic stop on early Sunday morning. She reportedly refused orders and kicked a deputy in the groin.

· At 1:41 a.m. deputies arrested Daniel Gene Rothering, 55, of Winona, on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after his vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation.

· At 7:06 p.m. deputies pulled over a vehicle on Mankato Avenue and Second Street after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. The driver, Justus William Pomeroy, 24, of Winona, reportedly exited the vehicle and declined to return and was subsequently detained by deputies. Pomeroy allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana prior to driving. He was cited with obstructing the legal process and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance, pending a toxicology report.

· At 10:41 p.m. deputies respond to reports of a train derailment on Highway 61 north of La Crescent. Eight empty frac sand cars had reportedly fallen off the tracks. The engineer, conductor and crew had reportedly left the scene before deputies arrived. There were no injuries, no hazardous material and no public-safety issues according to a statement by Canadian Pacific.

Monday, August 6


· At 9:11 a.m. deputies recovered a stolen side-by-side ATV, which had been abandoned on the side of County Road 31 north of Altura.
