“Lady of the Woods” by Cynthia Jennings of Winona.
Mannequin lamps created by local designers will be featured on the red carpet at a live auction held at the WNB Financial lobby on October 18. Light up a Life and WNB will host the event that will offer food, beverages and music.
The mannequins used in creating the lamps have their humble beginnings in a local store but having outlived their usefulness when the store closed, their life as an art form took shape in the hands of 10 artists who have used various mediums to create some unusual lamps.
Auction goers will see a variety of resources used as well as traditional paint. Old jewelry, feathers, leaves, acrylic beads and even some interesting hardware have been used to don these mannequins and make them something a collector would want to own. They can also be a great asset to areas in your home or office.
The mannequin lamps will be lit up and displayed in the storefront of Home and Community Options and in the lobby of WNB Financial in early October. Money raised from the auction will be donated to individuals with Down syndrome and other disabilities who receive services at Winona DAC, ORC Industries, Home and Community Options, Inc., and the DSAW/La Crosse.
Auction seats are limited. Tickets will be available from mid-September to October 18 at Hardt’s Music in Winona and at WNB Financial’s Main Street entrance door on the evening of the event.
