Friendship Center events, classes, and more


Open building hours are on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; on Tuesday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

2019 Friendship Center membership

For those members who have memberships you will receive a renewal letter a month before you need to renew your membership. The membership cost is $30 for an individual or $50 for a couple (two people in a household). Memberships are yearly from the date of purchase. Stop in to get your membership set up or renewed.

2019 Active Wellness Center membership

Winona State University (WSU) exercise science students are available for monitoring and training. Older-adult-friendly exercise equipment and workout programs designed specifically for each individual are also available. Release forms must be filled out prior to your workout on the first day; forms will be faxed to your doctor to avoid charges for an office visit.

The Friendship Center accepts Silver & Fit or Silver Sneakers. (If you have either of these programs there is no cost to you, and the center takes care of the billing!) 


Payment is required upon registering. The cost for members is $78 yearly.

Events and classes

Bridges Health Winona

Thursdays until April 11, from 1-4 p.m.

Bridges Health is a collaborative effort to bring free health services to the local community. Bridges does not provide emergency health services. Please register for appointments for ear washes, neck massages and to be seen in the foot care clinic. Stop in and talk with a Bridges volunteer (interprofessional students and faculty from Winona State University) for any additional services, including medication review, the heart health program and blood pressure checks.

Hypnotherapy: how to make new friends

February 19 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. (educational)

February 26 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. (group hypnotherapy)

What blocks us from making new and meaningful friendships? Can people learn how to overcome shyness and become outgoing, or are those just fixed personality traits? Discover the answers to these questions and more with Sarah Ventura in the educational class, then see if hypnotherapy can work for you! Each session is $5.50 for Friendship Center members.

Clean living for weight loss

Wednesday, February 20, from 1-2 p.m.

This is a free purification and detoxification workshop that focuses on the effects of toxins on people’s bodies and how toxins are related to arthritic conditions, excess fat storage, and chronic health conditions. Dr. Mike Uker will teach you how to minimize new toxic exposures from the air you breathe, the water you drink, and the food you eat, as well as how to eliminate toxins that are already in the body.

Book Club

Tuesday, February 26, from 12-1 p.m.

Read this month’s book selection, “Commonwealth,” by Ann Patchett. You are welcome to bring your lunch to class. Louise Mattila facilitates this free-for-members club.


Thursday, February 21, from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Students from SG Danceworkz will perform new several numbers. There is no cost.

The Winona Friendship Center is open to all individuals age 55 and over. For more information about classes, hours, or nominal class or participation fees, feel free to stop in or call 507-454-5212.

The Senior Advocacy Program provides information and assistance to people over age 60. If you need assistance, please call 507-454-7369.
