Gundersen will continue oncology outreach in Winona
Oncologist Roger Kwong, MD, retired from Gundersen Health System on March 29 after 41 years of caring for patients in the Tri-State Region, including helping keep patients close to home by providing outreach in Winona.
“It has been my honor to serve in Winona, and I leave with many memories of my patients’ kindness and courage,” Dr. Kwong said. “My goal was to provide excellent care that was personal and considerate. My patients have become much more than just a name and birth date to me. I will miss them and their families, though I know I am leaving them in the capable care of the oncology team at Gundersen.”
David Marinier, MD, will assume oncology and hematology outreach in Winona for Gundersen starting in May. Like Dr. Kwong, Dr. Marinier takes pride in getting to know his patients and helping them through every step of their cancer journey.
“I entered the field of hematology and oncology largely due to the life-lasting and life-changing relationships patients and physicians often form together,” Dr. Marinier said. “The field is dynamic, with newer and better treatments always on the horizon, which is invigorating to see and be a part of.”
Dr. Marinier shares Gundersen’s commitment to exceptional care, close to home, with special interests in immunotherapy, genitourinary malignancies (prostate, bladder, penis, testes, kidney), melanoma and medical education.
