Tuesday, July 2


• At 8:15 a.m an employee at Sugar Loaf Ford reported that someone had broken the window of a 47-year-old customer’s car which was parked in the lot overnight.

• At 10:29 a.m. police cited Brentley Steven Johnson, 56, of Winona, with tampering with a motor vehicle after witnesses reported seeing Johnson looking into and going through vehicles on the 50 block of Walnut Street.

Wednesday, July 3

• At 2:57 a.m. police arrested Michael Allen Johnson, 34, of Winona, on an outstanding warrant from Scott County after police received a report alleging that Johnson had attempted to assault a city of Winona employee who was painting parking lines near the intersection of Fourth and Main streets.

• At 10:35 a.m. a Winona woman living on the 350 block of East 10th Street reported that someone had used her name to obtain an Xcel Energy account between October 2012 and September 2013 and built a debt of $1,300.

• At 12:30 p.m. a Winona man reported the theft of a blue mountain bike with green sprocket rings from the 300 block of South Baker Street.

• At 1:09 p.m. a 19-year-old woman reported that she was struck in the face by a person on the 1750 block of Kramer Drive on Monday, July 1.

• At 4:30 p.m. a 45-year-old man reported that a man threatened him with a bat on the 700 block of West Broadway.

• At 6:19 p.m. police cited Darrell Raymond Campbell, 47, of Winona, with possession of an open bottle of alcohol in a motor vehicle and obstructing the legal process; and James Tekulvia Hayes Jr., 40, of La Crosse, Wis., with possession of a small amount of marijuana in a motor vehicle after the vehicle in which the two were traveling was stopped near Kwik Trip on West Fifth Street for a seat belt violation. Officers reportedly located 1.75 grams of marijuana and a 24-ounce bottle of Keystone beer in the vehicle.

Thursday, July 4

• At 1:57 p.m. a Winona man reported that someone entered his residence on the 600 block of West Fifth Street sometime overnight and stole between $300 to $350 in coins.

• At 8:46 p.m. police arrested a 68-year-old Winona woman on suspicion of driving while intoxicated near the intersection of Service Drive and Orrin Street. Charges are pending the results of a blood draw.

• At 8:52 p.m. an employee at Walmart reported the theft of fireworks. The alleged thieves were not located.

• At 11:17 p.m. police cited Joshua Ryan Kanne, 20, of Winona, with leaving the scene of a property-damage accident after officers stopped him on Eighth and Franklin streets for having a headlight out and reportedly observed that there was fresh damage on the car. He reportedly admitted to hitting a trailer on the 1350 block of East Burns Valley Road.

Friday, July 5

• At 12:53 a.m. police arrested Eric Joel Grant, 36, of Barron, Wis., and referred him to the county attorney for potential charges of third-degree driving while intoxicated and second-degree test refusal after he was stopped near the intersection of Broadway and Kansas Street for running a red light. He reportedly showed signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking three beers prior to driving. He had a reported blood-alcohol content measured at .15 percent.

• At 1:02 a.m. police cited Logan David Michiel Smith,19, of Winona, with underage consumption of alcohol on the 100 block of Market Street.

Thursday, July 4

• At 8:44 p.m. deputies cited Zachary Thomas Drazkowski, 18, of Winona, and Skyler Ann Bedtka, 18, of Winona, with underage consumption of alcohol on Latsch Island Road.

Friday, July 5


• At 1:59 a.m. deputies assisted the Minnesota City Fire Department with a vehicle fire on Keiper Drive in Minnesota City. The vehicle was reportedly a total loss.

Buffalo County

Wednesday, July 3


• At 1:07 p.m. deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash on Highway 25 between Nelson and Wabasha. The driver, a 42-year-old man from Lake City, Minn., reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crossed both lanes of traffic, rolling over and entering deep water. The vehicle reportedly became completely submerged, but the driver and his three children were able to exit the vehicle. All four occupants were reportedly transported to the hospital for the treatment of unknown injuries.

• At 3:10 p.m. deputies responded to a collision between a motorcycle and a deer on State Road 35, south of Marky Bluff Road. The motorcyclist, a 70-year-old man from Ellsworth, Wis., reportedly collided with a deer and lost control of the motorcycle. Both the driver and a 59-year-old female passenger were transported to a local hospital for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
