What is prayer? It’s like an umbrella protecting you from the rain of sin. Prayer works as a sealant to protect your soul. Prayer is food for the soul, just as important as food is for the body.
We all have a lifetime to figure this out, anywhere from a day to 100 years, or maybe just a few hours, as in the case of my daughter, Elaine. As I read the obituaries, I see all different ages. People leaving us in their 60s and 70s now seems premature — even 84 (ha)! I guess what I’m trying to say is we really don’t know when our time clock will stop.
The clock of life is wound but once,
and no man has the power
to tell just where it will stop
at late or early hour.
To lose one’s wealth is sad indeed;
to lose one’s health is more.
To lose one’s soul is such a loss
as no man can restore.
The present only is our own;
live, love, all with a will.
Place no faith in tomorrow —
for the clock may then be still.
