The Minnesota Department of Revenue recently launched a new sales tax rate map designed to help customers calculate the local sales tax for purchases made around the state. The new sales tax rate map is a visual complement to the popular sales tax rate calculator.
“Our customers told us a map would be a helpful tool for determining the tax rate that applies to sales and purchases at specific Minnesota locations,” said Revenue Commissioner Cynthia Bauerly. “We are always looking for ways to make it easier for Minnesotans to meet their tax obligations. This map is an example of how we can leverage technology to meet our customers’ needs.”
Users can access the new map directly by going to https://taxmaps.state.mn.us/salestax/ or by clicking the link on the Sales Tax Rate Calculator page: http://www.revenue.state.mn.us/businesses/sut/Pages/SalesTaxCalculator.aspx. This webpage is also accessible by searching Sales Tax Rate Calculator on the revenue website, www.revenue.state.mn.us.
The map displays the entire state with general sales tax rates. To find a specific tax rate, users can enter an address into the search box or simply click on the desired location on the map. The interactive map allows customers to explore different Minnesota locations and find local tax rates for areas around the state.
