Friday, January 5

• At 12:41 p.m. police received a report of a package stolen from a common entryway at an apartment building on the 100 block of East Fifth Street.
• At 8:46 p.m. police cited Jessica Marie Carpenter, 25, of Winona, for theft by shoplifting after she allegedly took items from Target.

Saturday, January 6


• At 2:36 p.m. police received a call from an employee at Wal-Mart who said an unknown man had stolen a DVD player valued at $190.

Sunday, January 7


• At 12:54 a.m. police cited Carol Lynn Brown, 56, of Winona, for hosting a loud party on the 100 block of Mankato Avenue.
• At 2:20 a.m. police stopped a vehicle at 11th and Johnson streets for operating without headlights. The driver, Greggory Richard Jore, 43, of Winona, reportedly showed signs of intoxication and was cited for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content measured at .10 percent.
• At 3:08 a.m. police cited Kara Louise Faith Venable, 26, of Winona, for trespassing at Wal-Mart.

Monday, January 8


• The Winona County Attorney’s Office filed charges of gross misdemeanor theft against Richard Sheldon Hurlbert, 24, of Holmen, Wis., after he allegedly stole merchandise with a total value of more than $800 from Wal-Mart on three occasions. Police reportedly put video images of the suspect on Facebook, and several law enforcement officials recognized the man as Hurlbert.
• The Winona County Attorney’s Office filed charges of possession of burglary tools and taking property without consent against Shawn Albert Hawley, 40, of Winona. Hawley allegedly entered a Winona business on January 6 at 4:32 p.m., stole a pocket knife and then attempted to use the pocket knife to break into a locked box of merchandise. He then allegedly took a cellphone into the bathroom, opened the packaging using the knife, then ran when police arrived.
• At 11:53 a.m. police responded to a report of a fight at Winona Senior High School between two 17-year-old boys. Police said the pair may be cited with disorderly conduct.
• At 12:15 a.m. police stopped a vehicle at Sarnia and Winona streets for having an object suspended from the rear-view mirror. The driver, Jerry Lee Cooper, 47, of Jacksonville, Fla., reportedly showed signs of intoxication and was cited for driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content measured at .09 percent.

Tuesday, January 9

• At 1:37 a.m. cited Kyle Joseph Cole, 23, of Buffalo, Minn., for public urination at Maxwell Field.

Sunday, January 7

• At 2:09 a.m. deputies stopped a vehicle at Sarnia and Huff streets after the driver allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign. The driver, Nicholis James Fish-Borzyskowski, 19, of Cypris, Texas, was cited for under 21 drinking and driving with a blood-alcohol content measured at .07 percent. Passenger Nathan Allen Kaiser, 18, of Apple Valley, Minn., was cited for underaged consumption of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content measured at .05 percent.

Monday, January 8


• At 1:57 a.m. deputies stopped a vehicle at highways 61 and 14 for operating without headlights. The driver, Bryce Allen Byerly, 23, of Winona, reportedly showed signs of intoxication and was arrested for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content measured at .15 percent.
