Winona Police

Tuesday, August 14

· At 11:07 a.m. police cited Amie Jo Dewitt, 28, of Winona, with trespassing at the Kwik Trip on East Broadway.

· At 11:50 a.m. police cited Devon Michael Anderson, 23, of Winona, with fifth-degree assault after he allegedly rammed a woman’s head into a wall multiple times.

· At 12:15 p.m. a store employee at Menards reported that two men had stolen a tent by swapping the UPC codes to purchase it at a different price.

· At 8:09 p.m. a blue Giant bicycle was reported stolen from a residence on the 1050 block of West 11th Street.

· At 8:45 p.m. a Playstation 4 and a copy of Madden ‘19 were reported stolen from a residence on the 400 block of East Sarnia Street.

Wednesday, August 15

· At 1:16 a.m. police reportedly observed a vehicle on Ninth Street run a stop sign before turning onto Grand Avenue. The vehicle allegedly crossed the center line and drove through several more stop signs before hitting a curb. The driver, Demoine Solo Wade, 39, of Winona, allegedly fled on foot. He was reportedly found hiding under some steps on the 300 block of East Second Street. Wade was charged with third-degree driving while intoxicated, second-degree refusal to submit to testing, reckless driving and driving after revocation.

· At 3:50 p.m. police arrested Kevin John Peters, 57, of Winona, after he allegedly dragged a woman approximately 15 feet with his vehicle before running over her leg with the rear-passenger side tire, severely bruising the woman. Peters was found near the intersection of Second and Johnson streets, and was subsequently charged with gross-misdemeanor criminal vehicular injury resulting in bodily harm.

· At 4:21 p.m. police cited James Henry Ostergaard, 72, of Winona, with leaving the scene of a property-damage accident after Ostergaard’s vehicle allegedly collided with a light pole and another vehicle before he drove home.

· At 7:57 p.m. a timber rattlesnake was reported on the 1350 block of Skyline Drive. A snake handler was brought in to remove the animal.

Thursday, August 16

· At 10:44 a.m. two vending machines were reported vandalized in an unsuccessful robbery on the 1000 block of Sugar Loaf Road.

· At 3:22 p.m. a woman reported that her billfold, containing an ID and a credit card, was stolen on the 500 block of East Second Street.

· At 9:41 p.m. police arrested Grace Katharine Jensen, 21, of Winona, for third-degree driving while intoxicated when she was allegedly found passed out in the driver’s seat of her vehicle. She reportedly had a blood-alcohol content measured at .18 percent.

Wednesday, August 15

· At 6:15 a.m. deputies cited Travis Lyn Depestel, 46, of Lewiston, with careless driving after he reportedly admitted to falling asleep behind the wheel before rolling his vehicle on County Road 29.

Thursday, August 16

· At 1:52 a.m. deputies responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle near a rural Winona County residence. The vehicle was later stopped on County Road 2 and the driver, Cody John Prigge, 22, of Rushford, was cited with careless driving and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident after allegedly running over the reporting party’s garbage can and mailbox.

Friday, August 17

· At 3:32 a.m. a Winona man reported that 50 sheep were loose on County Road 19 by Wilson. The owner of the sheep was called in to remedy the situation.
