Saturday, March 28

• At about 11 a.m. officers arrested Cheyenne Marie Gozdal, 29, of Winona, and referred her to the county attorney for a potential charge of theft. According to the report, Gozdal took and drove a vehicle without the owner’s consent. Officers were reportedly called to a collision involving the vehicle near Broadway and Franklin Street. Witnesses reported that the vehicle driven by Gozdal was going 60 to 70 mph. Those in the vehicle that was hit by Gozdal did not sustain injuries. They reportedly told officers that Gozdal walked away from the collision and was picked up by another vehicle. Those in the vehicle that picked up Gozdal reported that they dropped her off at a residence on the 950 block of East Fifth Street. Officers ultimately located Gozdal at that residence. 

Tuesday, April 7

• At 9:59 p.m. officers responded to a report of a domestic assault on the 700 block of East Fifth Street. The suspect, Matthew Ryan Nguyen, 35, of Winona, was not present when officers arrived, and they proceeded to look for him. On Wednesday, April 8, at 3:41 p.m., deputies arrested Nguyen and referred him to the county attorney for a potential charge of felony domestic assault. According to the report, he punched someone. 

Wednesday, April 8

• At 7:09 a.m. a man reported that his vehicle’s license plate tabs were stolen within the last week on the 50 block of Harvester Avenue. 

• At 4:07 p.m. officers ticketed Mitchell Laverne Ehlenfeldt, 59, of Rochester, Minn., with theft by shoplifting at Fleet Farm. He reportedly took items with a combined value of about $373. 

• At 4:10 p.m. officers ticketed Cody David Walker, 28, of La Crosse, Wis., with theft by shoplifting at Fleet Farm. He reportedly took items with a combined value of about $355. 

• At 6:26 p.m. officers ticketed Nicola Renee Garfield, 42, of Winona, with trespassing at Walmart. 

Thursday, April 9

• At 11:17 a.m. officers arrested Anthony James Crowson, 33, of Winona, and referred him to the county attorney for a potential charge of negligent storage of a firearm. According to the report, a three-year-old child was taken to Winona Health for the treatment of hand injuries after accessing a handgun that was unsecured on the top of a fridge in a residence on the 300 block of Mankato Avenue. 

Friday, April 10

• At 12:08 p.m. a woman reported that someone stole a trail camera from a front yard on the 700 block of East Fifth Street at some point in the last week. 

• At 12:53 p.m. officers arrested Michael John Mendyk, 57, of Winona, and referred him to the county attorney for a potential charge of gross-misdemeanor driving while intoxicated on Broadway and Junction Street. A breath test reportedly measured his blood-alcohol content at 0.22 percent. 

• At 3:37 p.m. an unknown man fled Walmart with grocery items for which he had not paid. 

• At 5:14 p.m. officers arrested Angela Sue Stanek, 34, of Winona, and referred her to the county attorney for a potential charge of violating of an order for protection. According to the report, officers saw Stanek walking on Broadway and Johnson Street with someone who has an order for protection against her. 

• At 5:36 p.m. officers ticketed Lance Robert Schewe, 32, of Winona, with theft by shoplifting at Walmart. 

• At 6:20 p.m. officers arrested Breann Elizabeth Konopisos Hart, 38, of Winona, and referred her to the county attorney for a potential charge of felony check forgery. According to the report, Hart used a $1,400 check that was stolen from a vehicle in Rochester, Minn., in January to buy another vehicle that was listed for sale on Facebook.

• At 8:22 p.m. an unknown person fled Walmart with a speaker with a value of about $250 for which they had not paid.

Saturday, April 11

• At 11:24 a.m. a woman reported that the driver-side mirror of a vehicle was broken off on the 300 block of Main Street. 

• At 1:34 p.m. a woman reported that a mirror of a vehicle was broken off overnight on the 50 block of West Broadway. 

• At 1:34 p.m. a woman reported that the passenger-side mirror of a vehicle was broken off and the hood of the vehicle was damaged on the 50 block of West Broadway. 

Sunday, April 12

• At 9:53 a.m. a woman reported that a vehicle was damaged. 

• At 2:20 p.m. a man reported that the driver-side door of a vehicle was dented in the last few days on Broadway and Center Street. 

Monday, April 13

• At 10:01 a.m. officers received a report of someone dumping garbage at a property on the 700 block of East Front Street. 

• At 1:35 p.m. a man reported that someone tried to enter his locked storage unit on the 1100 block of East Seventh Street at some point between April 4 and April 7. 

• At 3:05 p.m. officers ticketed Tamara Lennell Brooks, 23, of Winona, and Muna Ishaak Noor, 25, of Winona, with theft by shoplifting at Walmart. 

• At 4:33 p.m. a man reported that two boxes of Ziplock baggies that were delivered to a common area of an apartment building on the 150 block of West Broadway were stolen. 

• At 6:07 p.m. officers arrested Joshua Raymond Harris, 35, of Melrose, Wis., and referred him to the county attorney for a potential charge of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance at Fleet Farm. Officers also ticketed Jeremy Michael Bakkestuen, 38, of Westby, Wis., with theft by shoplifting at Fleet Farm. According to the report, officers were called to Fleet Farm on a report of a man concealing items. They reportedly talked to the man, Bakkestuen, when he arrived at a vehicle outside. There were reportedly other people, including Harris, in the vehicle. Officers reportedly found hypodermic needles, assorted baggies containing controlled substances and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. According to the report, the substance in one of the baggies tested positive for methamphetamine. 

 

Winona County

Tuesday, April 7

• At 5:04 p.m. a man reported that $2,400 was stolen from an occupied residence on the 39000 block of County Road 12 in Dakota. He had last been at the residence on February 13.
