December 15 is NOT the deadline to sign up for health insurance in Minnesota

(12/18/2017)

Federal open enrollment deadlines do not apply to Minnesota; MNsure's open enrollment runs through January 14, 2018

Despite federal deadline reminders to enroll by December 15, Minnesotans still have over four weeks to secure coverage in 2018. Open enrollment for Minnesota's state-based heath exchange, MNsure, runs until January 14. Minnesotans looking for coverage that starts on January 1, 2018, have until next Wednesday, December 20, to enroll in coverage.

MNsure extended its open enrollment deadline to ensure Minnesotans had adequate time to shop, compare and enroll into a plan that best fits their needs.

To accommodate higher call volumes, MNsure has extended Contact Center hours in the days leading up to the December 20 deadline. They are as follows.

• Sunday, December 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Monday, December 18, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Tuesday, December 19, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
• Wednesday, December 20, from 8 a.m. to midnight

Additional information on MNsure's open enrollment period can be found at https://www.mnsure.org/new-customers/enrollment-deadlines/open-enrollment/index.jsp.

The 2018 open enrollment period is from November 1, 2017, to January 14, 2018. Ninety-six percent of Minnesotans have health coverage — the highest percentage in state history. This year, an individual earning up to $48,240 a year, or a family of four earning up to $98,400 a year could qualify. More information can be found at mnsure.org.
