Winona Friendship Center members will receive a renewal letter a month before they need to renew their membership. Yearly memberships are $29 for individuals and $39 for a couple (two per household). Interested community members may stop into the center to renew or purchase a membership. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
2018 Active Wellness Center membership
Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. WSU exercise science students are available for monitoring and training. The center has older adult friendly exercise equipment, and workout programs designed specifically for each individual. Release forms must be filled out prior to workout on the first day; forms will be faxed to participants’ doctors to avoid charges for an office visit.
Payment is required upon registering. The cost for members is $76 annually.

A Volksmarch is a 6.2 (3.1) mile walk – not a race or competition or pledge-for-a-cause, but just a walk.
Twice a year there’s a Volksmarch to the top of the Crazy Horse monument in the Black Hills. Learn about Volksmarches, Burchill and McCammon’s experiences, as well as the history surrounding the monument and Crazy Horse himself, through memories, pictures and more.
Helen Bagshaw will instruct this class on Wednesday, March 7, from 1-2 p.m. It is free for members.
When a person has a cardiac arrest, survival depends on immediately getting CPR from someone nearby. This is an educational session on techniques including hands-only CPR, AED use and how to respond in an emergency. There are no tests or quizzes to pass.
Teleconference: George Washington and The French Indian War
Fort Necessity National Battlefield will offer this teleconference on Tuesday, March 13, from 1-2 p.m. It is free for members.
The park ranger will interact with the participants and use George Washington’s writings to show them how Washington’s ambition, hard work and experiences in the French and Indian War helped him mature into the famous man you know today. Participants will have an opportunity to ask the park ranger questions.
Gloria Siewert with “Caring Hands” will provide hand massages on Tuesday, March 13, and March 27 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The cost for members is $3.50.
Hand massages improve circulation, relieve tension in tendons and increase flexibility. They also reduce stiffness, relieves anxiety, pain and just plain feel good.
Minnesota State College Southeast students will conduct 30 minute reflexology/massage sessions on Tuesday, March 20, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. It is free for members. Call to make your appointment today.
Good Bad Art Day
Let your creativity flow during this free event on Wednesday, March 21, from noon to 3 p.m. This is a freestyle event to create a piece of art using available art supplies from paint to glitter, canvas to glass and more in only 90 minutes! All materials are provided. At the end of the session participants will vote for their favorites and prizes will be awarded to three winners. If you have any extra craft or art supplies you want to donate to this event, drop them off with Laura.

Minn. Safety Council defensive driving 4-hour refresher course
This is the four-hour refresher class for those who have already taken the initial eight-hour class, with a 10-percent discount on insurance. There is no driving and no test. You will receive a certificate of completion to provide to your insurance company for the 10-percent discount on your insurance. Wisconsin residents must ask their insurance agent if they will cover the discount.
Pre-registration and payment is required. The class will be held on Monday, March 19, from 6-10 p.m. Registration ends on March 5. The cost for members is $17; for non-members the cost is $26.
