Roberta Wakefield of Salem, SC, died December 13, 2006. She was a native of Winona, MN, and was the daughter of Frances Marion and Malvina Bess Davis. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Wakefield, a Winona native and resident of Salem, SC; a daughter, Judy Russell, and her husband, Phil, of Colorado Springs, CO; a son, William Wakefield, and his wife, Barbara, of Atlanta, GA; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Wakefield, of Tucson, AZ. A sister, Rebecca Reinarts, of Winona, and a brother, Allen Davis, of Oxon Hill, MD, also survive Mrs. Wakefield.
Mrs. Wakefield had worked in the Lockheed factory that produced the P-38 Lightning during WWII. After moving to Princeton, NJ, she worked for Educational Testing Service (ETS) and retired with her husband to Salem, SC, in 1968. There, she was a founding member of the garden club, and the center of her enjoyment was being a member of the quilters club. She and Kenneth were married 63 years.
A memorial service was held for Mrs. Wakefield in Seneca, SC, on December 18, 2006.
