Arnold Harold Storm, 87, of rural St. Charles, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at Golden Living Center - Whitewater in St. Charles.

Arnold was born April 18, 1921, in Wilson Township of Winona County to Jacob and Emma (Schwanbeck) Storm. He was confirmed at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Winona and went to East Burns Valley grade school. Arnold married Alice Franke on April 3, 1949, in Winona and they made their home in rural St. Charles. Farming was Arnold’s occupation and in later years his hobby. He enjoyed working with his sheep and lambs in Minnesota and tending his citrus grove in Estero, Florida, where the couple wintered since 1980.

He was a very caring man and loved his family, who always came first. Arnold knew no strangers, only friends he had yet to meet. Arnold loved to dance. He and Alice were members of the “Whitewater Whirlers” square dance club for many years. He also belonged to St. Matthew Lutheran Church of St. Charles, Zion Lutheran Church of Ft. Myers, and the Purple Foot Wine Club.

Arnold liked to travel, having traveled to Germany several times where his father was born and for his cousin’s 50th wedding anniversary.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, and nine children: Rev. Harold (Laura) Storm of Gaylord, MN, Rudolph Storm, David (Linda) Storm, Jacob (LuAnn) Storm, all of Dover; Bradley (Cathy) Alturas, CA, Craig (Mary Ellen) Storm of Westby, WI, Larry (Mitzi) Storm of Winnemucca, NV, Tammi (Paul) Schweitzer of Estero, FL, and NolaKay Kelm of River Falls, WI, 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
