Robert “Bob” Wise, 92, of Winona, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Lake Winona Manor. He was born on November 16, 1926, in Winona, Minn., to Everett and Erna (Heaser) Wise. He attended Cotter High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in Italy. Bob earned his teaching degree from Winona State University. Bob married the love of his life, Luella Scherbring, on October 28, 1950.
He started his teaching career in Elgin, Minn. He continued his teaching career at St. Stans and Cotter High School and then Winona Middle and Winona Senior High School before his retirement in 1989. Bob and Luella were blessed with seven children. He loved to spend time outdoors with his children, camping, fishing and hunting. He and Luella belonged to the line dancing group Boot Scootin’ Grannies. Bob was the only guy in the group. Bob belonged to the church choir at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart for 30 years.
Bob was a wonderful dad, husband, and friend. Bob is lovingly survived by his wife of 68 years, Luella; children, Debra (Lindsey) Posey, Linda (Tony) Kiedrowski, William Wise, Barbara (Jeff) Canar, Michael (Anne) Wise, Karen (Don) Andre; daughter-in-law, Jill Wise; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas; and daughter-in-law, Bridget.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 3, at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Winona, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona. Please view his tribute video and leave a memory at hofffuneral.com.
