Norma Jean (Kopperud) Iverson, 85, of Ladysmith, Wis., formerly of Rochester, Minn., passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Ladysmith Care and Rehab. Norma was born on August 17, 1933, in Rushford, Minn., to John and Cora Kopperud. She graduated from Rushford High School in 1952. In 1954 she was united in marriage to Elwood Iverson at Rushford Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death in 1979. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Rochester Sand & Gravel for many years before retiring to her lake home near Tony, Wis.
Norma was happiest at her home on the lake, she loved the outdoors and while still living in Rochester would pick up all five of her nieces and nephews and take them to the lake with her for the weekend. She was an avid gardener and had numerous flower gardens and vegetable garden which she had to fence off to deter the deer. She also loved to cook and bake; there were many Christmases spent at her and Elwood’s home in Rochester. Her family looked forward to her homemade Lefse and other Norwegian specialties.
Norma is survived by her brother, Larry (Violet) Kopperud of Rushford, Minn.; nephews, Brian (Barb) Kopperud, Chris (Christy) Kopperud and Michael (Nancy) Iverson; nieces, Kristin Iverson and Michelle (Emmett) Cook; sisters-in-law, Geraldine (Iverson) Janzen and Jeanette (Tomte) Iverson; her best friend, Violet Biller; her dog, Molly; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Lyle Kopperud and Raymond Kopperud; brothers-in-law, Jerome Iverson and Merlin Iverson.
To abide by Norma’s wishes there will be no services. Private graveside service will be held at a later date at Rushford, Minn. Nash-Jackan Funeral Home of Ladysmith is assisting the family.
