Barbara J. Burton, 65, of Winona, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at home after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Barb was born on June 24, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Clifford and Marian Skogstad. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1972. She continued her education and graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn. Barb was a lifelong nurse, practicing in many capacities. Her last position was at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare.

Barb married Gary Burton on December 21, 2012, in Winona, Minn. Barb loved her home and entertaining her family and friends. She was an amazing cook. Family and friends were very important to her. She kept in touch with her siblings on a regular bases and had friends over to her home weekly. Barb loved being a nurse. She was a gentle, nurturing soul who took care of everyone. She enjoyed the winter trips to Arizona with Gary and friends. She was quite the storyteller and enjoyed sharing their adventures.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Krista Ogden; brother, Gary Skogstad; and sister, Linda Shinabarger.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gary; son, Kyle (Kim) Albrecht; daughter, Kari Albrecht; grandchildren, Kaden, Kadence, Sadie, and Ryleigh; siblings, Clifford (Kate) Skogstad, Mary Skogstad, and Carol (Dave) Bungert; and many more relatives and good friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be on Sunday, December 1, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a memorial service at 1 p.m., all at Fawcett Junker Funeral Home, Winona, Minn.
