The 2004 rape of an unconscious 16-year-old Winona girl has seen its last conviction after Xee Thong Xiong, 20, of Winona, pleaded guilty Wednesday.

Xiong pleaded guilty to third degree criminal sexual conduct of a person who is physically helpless. Four other charges were dropped as part of a plea agreement.

It has taken more than three years for the conviction which stemmed from a November underaged party at the East End Apartments which went terribly wrong. Xiong, the fourth to be convicted of the sexual assault, admitted to drinking at the apartment. He said one girl passed out and three people sexually assaulted her. Another convicted in the assault, Sue Hang, 21, used an empty beer can in the assault.

Police discovered the unconscious and bleeding girl after a smoke detector went off at the residence. She required lifesaving surgery at the Mayo Clinic because of the assault.

Xiong will be sentenced on February 20 and may face up to four years in prison.
